MIKE – NEW YORK

Long Island, Queens, Manhattan

MIKE- Mike has been practicing yoga for ten years and teaching for over 2 years. Mike competed in bike racing, running, speed skating, and triathlons for 15 years. Working for ten years as a software engineer he learned methodologies that he applied to creating athletic training programs. These training programs maximize performance and minimize injuries by using yoga to balance the different sports.  He is now bringing these balanced training methods to athletes and non athletes to help them achieve their fitness goals.

Mike uses yoga to teach athletes how to warm-up their muscles which prepares them for workouts using basic movements and breathe. Training schedules are customized to meet specific goals and takes into account that people are unique in body types, training levels, and goals.  Restorative yoga poses are used after working out to relieve soreness and to stretch the muscles without overworking. Restorative yoga allows athletes to recover more quickly after workouts.

Mike is always continuing his education by attending workshops and mentoring with senior teachers to learn Iyengar and restorative yoga techniques. Mike has studied at Helen Hayes Hospital to learn therapeutics and rehabilitation. Mike also works with Alzheimer’s and dementia patents teaching yoga and movement classes.
Mike teaches yoga that works for competitive athletes and noncompetitive athletes to maximize performance and minimize injuries. By studying movement in sports Mike has been able to develop daily exercises that create better alignment. So weather you are a weekend athlete or preparing for a marathon these yoga practices will help you achieve your workout goals.

Tiffany's Impact on My Life –
by Candice Harris Belfer

I will never forget the day April 5, 2010... I came head on with Head Fitness Trainer; Tiffany Yates at Fitness Ridge, Biggest Loser Resort. Ironically I had just finished her "Mountain" class. It was the first class of my first day of eight hour ASS-kicking classes that I had waited months for. I was up over 35 pounds and an emotional wreck. I also had a huge chip on my shoulder and couldn't admit that I needed to be there even if I knew I WANTED to. I was so mad at myself for failing, consumed by my home trainer who kept telling me I wasn't ever going to succeed, that I was lazy, and I had let him down. It wasn't him, it was me! I let myself down but I didn't understand it + "It" was suffocating and deafening. Tiffany saw me walking out at the end of class with tears and she insisted that I must look at the FULL view. What did that mean? Perhaps what it applies in my life today! I have been so mad at my book keeper for stealing from me this past year, and my nanny who has been critically ill in the hospital that I forgot to take care of myself. Then, my friend Jen Morton calls to tell me that Tiffany is dedicating an Iron Man for me and I quickly remembered how strong I really am. I must continue to repeat this to myself and begin to live it: "Tiffany, I got this. I know what to do. You gave me everything I need so it's time to do it!"

Love to each Fitness Ridge Fitness Professional who works every day to help people struggling with obesity find a reason and a way to LIVE! Go life Ethics, Inc. and My Genes Fit!!
