TOM - Whom am I? I started studying Exercise Physiology in 1982 at Temple University. My family and I incorporated the Delaware Valley Fitness Corporation about this time. I became a high school Science teacher and sports coach, and sports official, always keeping in mind my first love as being a personal trainer. I retired after 25 years as a teacher and helped open the first boxing gym in NJ that had a boxing gym in a Health Club. I was the full time manager, coach, and salesperson responsible for start up, teaching one-on- one and classes besides sales. This was at Gold’s gym in Lawrenceville, NJ. Recently I worked for Princeton Fitness and Wellness Corporation as a trainer/boxing coach doing personal training sessions. I am still a five sport official that works mostly every day. I have been doing that for over twenty years.

THERESA - Theresa has over 30 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. She is certified as a personal trainer holding a certification in CPR from the American Red Cross. She currently works out of Ideal Fitness and as a partner in the Sagacity Wellness Group.
Theresa was born and raised in Miami, Florida. A foster child for the first 10 years of her life, suffering much abuse in a system that did not care, Theresa rose above her circumstances to be extremely successful. Throughout her life, she has had a very competitive spirit.
She participated in a couple of bodybuilding competitions in the 1980’s, winning best poser and first place. After raising her girls, she had the desire to get back into some kind of competition. Always in a gym, a trainer suggested she participate in fitness. Not knowing what it was, she and her husband went to view it. She was hooked.
She has since participated in four competitions: one local, one state, and two national, culminating in a 5th place finish in the NPC Nationals in her class. Theresa finished 3rd in her routine but under the new NPC rules, the judges found her to be too muscular for fitness. She has been blessed with wonderful genetics, a highly competitive spirit and an unbelievable work ethic. The body she came with was the body she gets naturally, so what to do? The judges recommended and with the encouragement of her husband, Theresa chose to pursue bodybuilding.
She has had success right from the beginning, finishing first as a heavyweight at the Pittsburgh NPC Bodybuilding Championship, which qualified her for national-level competition. Her first national show was the NPC Junior Nationals, in Chicago, Illinois, where she finished first again in the Light Heavyweight Division. With the opportunity to represent the United States in the World Championships, Theresa competed at the Team Universe. She was disappointed missing first place by only one point to the eventual overall winner, who went to Spain finishing 4th in the World. Her dissatisfaction with this finish did not deter Theresa, it only served to motivate her.
She had qualified to enter the NPC Nationals for the second year in a row, only this time in bodybuilding. This set the stage for a possible history making event. She finished fifth as heavyweight in her first Bodybuilding Nationals. By this finish, Theresa became the first woman in history to finish in the Top 5 at The Nationals in fitness and bodybuilding in back-to-back years. Since these two sports require different training regimens, this is an awesome accomplishment.
Theresa has become an inspiration to many women who see this grandmother able to perform and look this good. This has served as Theresa’s greatest inspiration as well. No longer for only the contest, she now competes to inspire other people to be the best that they can be.

KAREN - I became a personal trainer because, for as long as I can remember, I have been living and practicing a healthy lifestyle myself. I put so much thought and energy into my own workouts and nutrition plan that I finally realized the level of passion I have for this aspect of my life. I pursued and completed my NASM personal trainer certification so I can help others with the knowledge that I apply to my own lifestyle. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than helping another person become healthier, more energetic, stronger, leaner, more confident and overall, a happier person! I truly enjoy having a part in watching someone put in the hard work and effort to reach a fitness goal. I also appreciate the trust and confidence that is formed between myself, as a trainer, and my clients.
I consider everyone a unique individual and do my best to structure a program and routine that is challenging, efficient, creative and enjoyable, while also getting the desired results.
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and just recently moved to the Las Vegas area with my two sons.
I definitely "practice what I preach", meaning I workout 6-7 times a week and follow a disciplined nutritional plan.
I enjoy outdoor sports, running, swimming, boxing and hope to get more involved in hiking and rock climbing now that I have mountains nearby! In December of 2010, I ran in the Las Vegas Rock n' Roll 1/2 Marathon, my first competitive race. I hope to run several more in the future. I also am experienced with the TRX suspension training system and find it a whole different way to work your muscles. I like to incorporate this training into many of my client's routines at some point. I also love to work on boxing drills, BOSU balance training, body weight only resistance training, creative core work and high intensity interval training. I believe that creativity and variety is a huge part of sticking with a routine and keeps workouts enjoyable and fun. I see myself as a compassionate yet confident trainer, who will take the extra time and effort to really understand my clients, what their needs are, what their goals are, and then put together a program that reflects those things. Once that is in place, I am big on motivation and accountability. I will be there to encourage and push you along the way and celebrate your success as you make progress. Training is my passion and I love what I do!
QUOTE:"If you plan to make a change tomorrow, tomorrow will never be today. Make a change today, right here, right now!"
SHAYNA - I have been extremely passionate about the importance of maintaining good health and fitness ever since I was in the ninth grade. I have always had a love and interest in helping people see the value in exercising and coming up with health goals and ways to achieve them. I have taught a variety of group exercise classes to all ages in different settings. From a moms workout group to an after school exercise program for kids, I have implemented and motivated many individuals. I believe in people, I love working with people and I find personal training to be so rewarding on so many levels. I train different ways depending on the client's needs and wants. I'm a mom of three little boys ages 5,3, and 11 months. Aside for always having had a passion for health and fitness, I have kept up my personal fitness throughout and between pregnancies. I love helping other moms who need guidance and motivation to get back into shape, lose weight and become more fit.

Tiffany's Impact on My Life – by Candice Harris Belfer
I will never forget the day April 5, 2010... I came head on with Head Fitness Trainer; Tiffany Yates at Fitness Ridge, Biggest Loser Resort. Ironically I had just finished her "Mountain" class. It was the first class of my first day of eight hour ASS-kicking classes that I had waited months for. I was up over 35 pounds and an emotional wreck. I also had a huge chip on my shoulder and couldn't admit that I needed to be there even if I knew I WANTED to. I was so mad at myself for failing, consumed by my home trainer who kept telling me I wasn't ever going to succeed, that I was lazy, and I had let him down. It wasn't him, it was me! I let myself down but I didn't understand it + "It" was suffocating and deafening. Tiffany saw me walking out at the end of class with tears and she insisted that I must look at the FULL view. What did that mean? Perhaps what it applies in my life today! I have been so mad at my book keeper for stealing from me this past year, and my nanny who has been critically ill in the hospital that I forgot to take care of myself. Then, my friend Jen Morton calls to tell me that Tiffany is dedicating an Iron Man for me and I quickly remembered how strong I really am. I must continue to repeat this to myself and begin to live it: "Tiffany, I got this. I know what to do. You gave me everything I need so it's time to do it!"
