JANA L.- TENNESSEE

Knox County

JANA L.-Hello! My name is Jana and I have been practicing yoga for almost three years now. I am married and have two awesome children, ages 8 and 5. Yoga has always been an interest of mine. However, it wasn't until we moved to Knoxville that I began to practice and study the principles and ideas of yoga. My dedication to fitness came a little later in life than I would have liked, but I am committed now and that's what matters. I feel very strongly that yoga is a lifelong method of exercise. Its effects on your mental and physical well-being are incredible.  I find peace and positivity in practicing yoga. There is nothing better than a little yoga when you are feeling overwhelmed. Although many find yoga intimidating, I assure you that you will realize it is quite the opposite. I am very excited about the prospect of sharing my love of yoga with others.  I would welcome the opportunity to share yoga with teenagers also!

On a personal note, I was an elementary teacher for ten years, but have chosen to pursue a career in yoga. I am an avid reader and I enjoy photography. I am currently training for my first half-marathon and I am a die-hard college sports fan (my husband is a college coach). I volunteer with the Knoxville Komen Race for the Cure and also at my children's school. Namaste!

Tiffany's Impact on My Life –
by Candice Harris Belfer

I will never forget the day April 5, 2010... I came head on with Head Fitness Trainer; Tiffany Yates at Fitness Ridge, Biggest Loser Resort. Ironically I had just finished her "Mountain" class. It was the first class of my first day of eight hour ASS-kicking classes that I had waited months for. I was up over 35 pounds and an emotional wreck. I also had a huge chip on my shoulder and couldn't admit that I needed to be there even if I knew I WANTED to. I was so mad at myself for failing, consumed by my home trainer who kept telling me I wasn't ever going to succeed, that I was lazy, and I had let him down. It wasn't him, it was me! I let myself down but I didn't understand it + "It" was suffocating and deafening. Tiffany saw me walking out at the end of class with tears and she insisted that I must look at the FULL view. What did that mean? Perhaps what it applies in my life today! I have been so mad at my book keeper for stealing from me this past year, and my nanny who has been critically ill in the hospital that I forgot to take care of myself. Then, my friend Jen Morton calls to tell me that Tiffany is dedicating an Iron Man for me and I quickly remembered how strong I really am. I must continue to repeat this to myself and begin to live it: "Tiffany, I got this. I know what to do. You gave me everything I need so it's time to do it!"

Love to each Fitness Ridge Fitness Professional who works every day to help people struggling with obesity find a reason and a way to LIVE! Go life Ethics, Inc. and My Genes Fit!!
